Who we are

Tasauf A Baki Billah Team Leader

Started career as a Computer Engineer, suddenly started wondering in the humanitarian field for last 05 years. Besides working with both in MSF - Belgium and MSF - Holland in the past, have always been an active part of the Humanitarian movement by volunteering UNV, HOT, SBTF (Standby Task Force), Crisis Mappers & Mapillary. Became involved with OSM Bangladesh Community back in 2015. Started helping others building a strong OSM community.  During this period, actively got involved with the local field mapping projects in various parts of Bangladesh as a part of the projects by Save the Children, Y Care, American Red Cross, Asia Foundation, World Bank & Asian Development Bank. He is the founding Executive Director of Bangladesh Open Innovation Lab Ltd. Beside that he also played the role of Board Member for Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team (HOT, USA). Moreover, he is a general member of OpenStreetMap Foundation-UK. He envisions for a open data eco-system for greater good of our society.

Paromita Basak Project Assistant

She is a core team member of Bangladesh Open Innovation Lab (BOIL) and working as a project assistant of “Cities’ COVID Mitigation Mapping (C2M2) project” in Bangladesh led by American Association of Geographers(AAG), where research studies are underway to address the second order impacts of COVID-19 in focusing Dhaka city. She had her Masters in Environmental Sciences & Policy from Central European University(CEU), Hungary and Bachelors from Asian University of Women in Environmental Sciences & Mathematics. She is also an international Alumni Mentor for the Community College Initiative Program (CCIP) of the US State Department. She was the former Founder and President of Youth Mappers at AUW chapter. Being an active member of the OSM community, she led Bangladesh’s first arsenic mapping project with an all women team after winning the HOT community development grant in 2017. She has been a part of different international environmental organizations and tech initiatives such as the ISEPEI project, CEU Environmental Systems Laboratory (SYSLAB), American University of Central Asia(AUCA) and so on. Her research career focuses on using open geospatial data for solving environmental issues, such as climate change, food security, environmental pollution; and societal issues of gender discrimination in both national and international arena.

Sawan Shariar Finance Officer

Completed his master’s in economics from the University of Dhaka, holds extensive experience in managing different level projects. He has been involved with OSM activities for over 6 years, which starts with the Data4Action project initiated by American Red Cross in 2015. Since then, he is an active member and contributor of OpenStreetMap community Bangladesh. Currently, he is performing the role of a manager (Admin and Finance) at BOIL. Before joining BOIL, he was appointed as Operations Executive at Pathao Ltd. Besides this, he is also playing role as deputy coordinators & validation lead of the Bangladesh Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Operational Team; known to all as Team BHOOT. He is one of the regional ambassadors of YouthMappers and voting members of the Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team (HOT). During his academic period, he was elected as president of Dhaka College YouthMappers chapter initiative and a long-term voluntary experience with Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS).

Sajjad Hossen Research Assistant

Coming from a background of Social Science, he has been volunteering in the OSM Bangladesh community since 2014. He has worked & lead field teams in projects like Missing maps to map Hazaribagh & Kamrangirchar, YMCA mapping project with ICS volunteers to map Durgapur & Chittagong, “Kolorob” project by Save the Children Bangladesh, Data4Action project of American Red Cross in collaboration with BDRCS. He has received Official Disaster Declaration and Activation Training from Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team (HOT), USA; held in Jakarta, Indonesia in 2015. He has a passion for research in the field of social science focusing on livelihoods, migration, education and modern technology in society areas.

Samsul Arafin Information Management Officer

Completed his Masters in Finance from University of Dhaka, has worked at Save the Children in Bangladesh as Field Data Collector in “KOLOROB” Project in recent past and very active volunteer in various volunteer organizations. He joined OSM Bangladesh community back in 2015 and contributed as team leader in different projects. He worked as a Junior Officer (Map Department) in Pathao LTD and Assistant Manager (Field Department) in Bangladesh Open Innovation Lab (BOIL)

Atikur Rahman GIS Assistant

Post Graduate in GIS from Jahangirnagar University. He has been working with OSM in Bangladesh since the year of 2015. After that, he worked in several projects based in Bangladesh and had a keen interest in the technical side of OSM & participatory mapping. He has a sound knowledge of different tools as OMK, ODK, OSMAND, OSM Tracker, Fulcrum, HOT Export, Geo Map tool, etc. Passed several years as a youth leader at Bangladesh Red Crescent Society. He has also leaded the field operation of geospatial data collection for BDRCS, World Bank & many other organizations.
